Originally Russ joined Ridge Radio in January 2012 with his fishing show called, The Obsessed Angler, featuring a mix of fishing chat, fishing news and a great mix of Easy Listening music, plus from time to time a fishing guest would visit the Ridge studios to chat about their love of angling and their choice of music.

As well as his passion for music especially Pink Floyd, Bowie, Queen and The Beatles to name but a few, Russ also like to fish and has appeared on various fishing TV shows on Sky, Quest and Discovery plus his own DVD series called The Obsessed Angler which consisted of 10 episodes. Russ is currently working on a long term fishing project called The Quest which is mainly filmed in the winter months on a quest to catch big Perch.

Russ was also the angling journalist for The Surrey Mirror for many years and has written and appeared in many angling magazines in the past including other angling paperbacks. One day when he gets time he says he will sit down and write a book on his angling exploits.

In his youth Russ was a keen footballer and represented many football clubs at all levels catching the eye of his beloved West Ham United in the early to mid-70s, they were happy days when scoring goals was just for fun.
Russ loves all types of music hence the genre variety of his shows over the Ridge Radio airwaves with past shows as Back to the 60s & 70s and Folk and Country plus theme shows on past Thursday nights with The Russ Evans Music Show which just to feature solo artists as well as bands from all genres. Russ also hosted a Sunday morning Breakfast show with a great mix of music and interaction with his audiences.

Russ says, “Being born in East London I had to support just one team, that being West Ham as all of my family are Hammers fans so it was great to spend 3 years of youth at the club a youth team player, sadly they let me go and did not sign me professionally, which I have always said was their loss”

“My Dad, God Bless him, taught me how to fish from the age of 2 and I have fished all my life”

“My Grandad passed on another passion which I still have today and that is horse racing especially National Hunt racing and I have two small shares in two race horses which are at the early stages of their careers but it is exciting to be involved albeit at a small level of ownership”

“Finally, I would like to say it is great to be back at Ridge Radio presenting my passion for music, broadcasting over the internet to the local community of Tandridge and beyond”
